ts10 is the 1st ep of the toneseries project. born from the collaboration between french music producer, live performer and dj - david k, and lumièreslanuit s co-founder and an der grenze s founder - edouard morin. however, it isn t clear which artist from their extended crew stands behind this 1st release, as if the berlin-based music label wanted to focus on the music rather on the artist. ts10 consists of two tracks, both deep and groovy. whereas ailleurs disseminates the perfect warm-up groove, desert snowflakes fires off a more dancefloor-driven vibe. with regard to the artwork, as shown on the cover, each track has its own colour. there is neither a a nor a b-side. the same applies to the record vinyl itself. each track stands on it own. as a result, ailleurs and desert snowflakes distinguish themselves from each other through their vibes and colours, although they remain in the same spirit. in summary, toneseries brings together the idea of interdependence between music and design: what colour follows on from music and, in return, which musicality comes out of colours.

lumièreslanuit is glad to welcome istanbul-based duo bärtaub (mutlu san & batuhan güler) for the 6th release of the label. as in most of the duos, each of the members has his speciality. whereas mutlu focuses primarely on the music production, batu is known by istanbuls house/techno aficionados as a restless dj. bärtaubs debut ep is called rhizome (type of plant root) not without reason. beats, melodies and bassline jump over, crawl under and draw apart from each other in unexpected and non-hierarchical ways. in the end, they all come together in a harmonious manner that creates an overall of excitingly playful forest-like atmosphere.

when we signed bosq s tumbala featuring puerto rican legend tempo alomar on vocals last year we knew that it was a multi-cultural masterpiece. we also knew that giving it a boost for the club could take it to a whole other stratosphere. so we enlisted another one of our favorite multi culti producers, auntie flo to take it for a spin, and boy did he turn out a club jam!

although the artist has spent 2015 honing the discographies of his other projects, “ravers” comes after a silent year for the d. carbone moniker which in turn gives it all the more impact. the “class of ‘87” dj and producer’s first mini-album is dedicated to everyone interested in the ecstatic sounds of 90’s rave culture. on “ravers”, d. carbone distances himself from the functional perception that techno indicates a fairly narrow tempo range. instead, he approaches it more freely by returning to earlier formulations.

viva erotica has been a gabba-beat chamber orchestra, a facebook sculpture, a youporn recycling machine and is now becoming a piece of wax (a record). four tracks are furious comments on the downfall of club music - the bassdrum as a weapon against the bassdrum - the other four want to forgive and forget. 2015 was the year of about-face. each of the 330 records has a cutout from a coffee-table book plastered on the front.

this track has been in my computer since a little while when dj sotofett joined me here in amsterdam, to play an epic back to back at the school (amazing new club here). when i am doing a track, it could go to a lot of different directions as im jamming them for hours in my pipe studio. i sometimes could get lost. so i asked sotofett to join me in the studio to help to finish it. then we ended with those 2 versions of cham, which are, as often when i work with the sextags man, the result of live takes almost unedited. we also add some percussions from shadi khries and we recorded two versions of the same track within hours. one being bass driven with a lot of psychedelic noises and the other one more space-techno. our adventures continues, here is another slice of spaced out music.hope you ll enjoy.

hans berg and johanna knutsson return to the ufo station with their fourth release, a powerful trippy trip, through warped time and space. and guess who was waiting for them at the station? well,none other than fellow space traveller dungeon acid, who delivers a remix that just might knock your space pants off. the title track alien power is obviously inspired by the quantum fusion core phase shift warp power engine that drives the ufo station, a steady beat to keep you on the right side of the force, whereas the dungeon acid remix is a musical interpretation of the great warp speed interdimensional flux mishap of the year 2216. the track dubby is so named because it inherently describes the core feeling of the track! alien choirs and synched synths meet long delay lines in this dreamy piece.

severence is an electronic sound artist who lives in spain. mensch 003 experiments with various forms of chaotic sound & signal generation to create dense chaotic sound fields and other more relaxed ambient soundscapes. all tracks were recorded live in one take using a eurorack modular synth, a mixing desk and various effects pedals (no overdubs or post processing in the computer).

about a year ago nico stojan and acid pauli met at the studio to record some music. while doing so they discovered their common love for sample based production. so they were basically digging into old vinyls and eventually these three tracks came along. nothing more to say, but enjoy. call of the valley is the first release on the new label ouie: there has been a shift in this tiny piece of massive world and, like all other shifts, they are documented by those who were there. ouie is the label to do just that, created by the people who were there, making those shifts.

terrific record! eight charged, intimate meditations by julie normal and olivier demeaux, playing a rickety ondes martenot and an old church harmonium. gripping, detailed, stately improvisation — a bit like the ùrlars in classical bagpipe music — which nervily mixes the sternly doom-laden with precarious, other-worldly wonderment. (the ondes martenot is an amazing twentieth-century instrument — beloved by messiaen, for example, and varese. the theme-song of star trek is a vocal forgery of its sound. ‘j’aime cette fragilité qui côtoie la capacité de te décoller le tympan sur certaines fréquences inopinément,’ says julie. ‘je tiens une bombe dans les mains. j’aime son instabilité, son humanité.’) wood, breath, blood, eggshells… on the night of a purple moon. very warmly recommended.

the grand opening of the new label serie obscura europa sampled artists , a various artists 12 ep serie to present darkwave bands that escapes a little from the usual electronic sound of the label. on this volume 1 we will find a 90 s ultra classic darkwave hymn of the dissolved german band behind the scenes, uncomprehensively never pressed on vinyl to date. on the other hand, the polish solo act undertheskin shows with 2 cold but extremely rhythmic tracks why his acclaimed debut mini album is one of the most exciting and interesting proposals of 2015. all tracks have been analogically remastered specially for this vinyl version.

powerdance is a collective formed by luke solomon and nick maurer formed as a reaction to bland soul less dance music that seems to infiltrating nightclubs the world over. luke and nicks comradely stems back many many years to their association with the classic music company a label formed by derrick carter and luke. nick maurer was one half of the then prolific greens keepers. this ep for optimo trax features the wigged epically funkoid gem mysterious space plane who doesn t like songs about space? on the other side is the modern hyper jacking more fire. alongside these are a reprise of mysterious space plane and a bonus beats of more fire for those djs who like to, are able to get creative with their mixing

tresor records proudly presents the second chapter in mønic’s musical journey on the label. head of osiris music, mønic is an accomplished producer whose style can be defined as raw yet exceptionally refined, allowing for a certain industrial inspiration to ooze from his exquisite sound design. ‘four sides of truth’ opens a conversation between pristenely defined low frequencies and an infinity of fleeting, chirping synth layers. this discussion will continue throughout the record, taking additional drums into the exchange and swirling into ‘point to the sun’ in full panning effect. on the other side, lower frequencies undoubtedly take over and win the argument in ‘self doubt is worthless’. uk-based kamikaze space programme contributes with a revisited version of ‘morse’, initially released on the parsons hill ep. preserving the abrasive textures of the original, ksp dramatically raises the track’s thrilling factor.

giant cuts presents. shmlss. shmlss consists of bart and michiel, two young dutch guys who connected with each other through the disco sound they both love. always searching for those rare gems in dark, dusty old record stores, they often come home with the same records. their dj sets are diverse and they have developed a particular sound. disco selectors at 22tracks amsterdam and with releases in the bag for special edition, disco deviance, to rack & ruin, paper disco, because music things are certainly bright for shmlss.

the second release is a split between the label owners lc12 and the rising star autre.
on the first side rumore and orphidal are opening the release with a 115 bpm proto-ambient track filled with liquid grooves and tribal elements while in the second cut they are showing us their faster and deep-acid side with conversations.
on the other surface autre is killing it with filter sessions 329, a mental techno trip did while experimenting with his new filter bank, an 808 and a juno 106. the b2 is an elegant track with a fred p-esque touch, suitable for every kind of dance floor.

king ghazi is shadi khries and gilbert cohen. recorded in amman / may 2014. all the music presented here is original, and has been recorded in jordan in may 2014. this project was born when i met shadi in paris, at the percussion recording sessions for acid arab. from these sessions came the idea of&#8203,,,,,exploring local music styles on the verge of disappearing, in jordan and elsewhere in the middle east. it was also an opportunity for me to meet exceptional people and wonderful artists. for 15 days, we travelled through jordan, recording local musicians. here we hear osama al khairat aka abu sayah, an exiled syrian musician who plays the yarghoul (two flutes linked together by beeswax. one plays a drone, the other the corresponding range, all while blowing continuously). i want to specially thank shermine sawalha for allowing us to record in the living room of her parents house, as well as for coordinating the whole project. without her energy and patience, this record would not be in your hands today.

modern love very rarely reaches out to artists outside of its immediate surroundings, it’s happened just a couple of times in the last 14 years. but there’s something about philippe hallais that compelled the label to ask him if he wanted to do something together. philippe has released music on a bunch of cool labels (l.i.e.s., the trilogy tapes, delsin, in paradisum), but hearing the first tracks recorded for lighthouse stories, it was obvious philippe was hitting on something new: a kinda weird slow/fast dance music that sounded like a footwork variant sewn up with an exotic production style that was impossible to pin down. these tracks eventually splintered off into different directions, held together by a strong sense of narrative and motion harking back to a teenage obsession with turntablism, detroit electro and ghetto house, and eventually juke and grime. although he’s spent the last few years focusing on more industrial dancefloor variants, for lighthouse stories philippe turned to these foundational influences, as well as his love of mixtapes and sound collages full of unfinished ideas, skits and experiments, all things that inform the flow of this new album. lighthouse stories captures a sense of nostalgia well, but is also a futuristic vision full of that exploratory, vibrant spirit that’s so hard to find in electronic music these days. frames of reference are hard, but in places it reminds us of the dusted swagger of anthony shake shakir, the acquatic drexciyan movements of ultradyne, a loose-limbed take on shangaan, and of actress at his most submerged. but ultimately, it’s an album made by a producer looking to his personal history while forging new ground, pushing ahead with little regard to convention and ultimately ending up with something completely unique: a kind of intimate journal rendered in bright colours and odd shapes.

from da vaults…nettles is a new series from red rack ems bergerac label which will focus on the more sample based end of things. tracks which have remained secret weapons for many years will finally see the light of day. this first release features music which was played by quite a few heavy hitters but sadly remained lost on the hard drive…until now… ‘bill george starts of as a super funky, cut up electro disco jam which morphs into the mother of all breakdowns before drifting into super deep detroit style house and then peaking back to the original electro funk vibes. a secret weapon for the likes of crazy p (who featured it on their beats in space mix way back in 2010) and one of red rack em most unreleased tracks requested for release , there s going to be quite a few people around the world celebrating bill george finally making it to wax. a 30 second piece of incidental music from a long lost german children s television series is extended into a late night disco jam timm which picked up props from none other than todd terje when danny extended it back in the hot coins edit days of 2007. another lost track which is finally seeing release…. ‘transfer list began life as a hip hop beat which ended up being such an epic opus that the full glory of the track had to be unleashed. once again a cdr classic for a trusted few. a super funky beat evolves into a kind of honky tonk vibe sort of on the kmd tip but with added poppy vocals. made in 2003

danish djuma soundsystem teams up with italian aki bergen and they get showered in spoken poetry by none other than south african lazarusman.the reciepe is already there and looking good,but even better.it sounds good too. 2 different versions from 2 great producers. aki bergens version is very driving, electronic and suitable for the primetime and late night hours. djuma soundsystem serves the more organic and deep version for the warm up hours and small intense clubs.

stamp records delve into the past for their next release, giving a new lease of life to one of swayzak s least characteristic and most sought-after tracks. swayzak are true heroes of the uk underground, having clocked numerous seminal releases in the late 90 s and early 00 s straddling the grey area between house and techno. disco dub plate volume 2 - originally out in 2000 - was an obvious anomaly in the duo s discography, that has managed to forge a path of its own amongst a completely different crowd to swayzak s usual disciples. one cut from that ep, stronger love , is a carefully arranged marriage between a certain pair of quintessential aor darlings and the soul voice of the 80 s. can we be more specific? no can do...it shouldn t really work, but somehow it does! it s been caned by many a balearic dj over the years, including mark seven who included it in his mythical originals compilation, where it holds its ground amongst other balearic heavyweights. as an added bonus for this 2016 edition we re treated to two brand new mixes ! frank agrario teases in bits of the original making for his chunkier version that is aimed squarely at the dancefloor, while brun (1/2 of swayzak) delivers a bang up-to-date dub that keeps its elements to the bare minimum, building into a deep hypnotic house chugger.

over the course of the past ten years, stil vor talent has striven to support emerging young artists, to continuously broaden and redefine its sound, and, ultimately, to create lasting memories, both on and off the dance floor. the dance floor is the place where we gather to leave the worries of our everyday lives behind, and, for those few moments, form a bond, which transcends the final track of the night. a bond between each other between the artist and the dancer, between ourselves and the music. on 10 years stil vor talent we celebrate this bond and say thank you.

here at bearfunk we have been pretty busy as of late it was a casual visit to geneva just like any other. we had just finished a buzzing set and soon after we found ourselves talking to a five bearded academic types. it turns out they were a bunch of theoretical physicists out on a cosmologists night out. they work them hard at cern and that day the large hadron collector had been a real beast rebooting five times before lunch. they were pissed off and needed a new challenge. we offered them a job on the spot and they promptly moved to our london hq working on a wage of tea, vinyl and nandos. we set them a challenge. build us a time machine! they started soaking up all those bearfunk-groove-boson particles and. you know what? they did it! a time machine of our own. our first task, jump back in time to 1985 and retrieve us something really cool. set controls to the manhattan office to celluloid records. fresh from their hit with herbie hancocks rockit, spearheading rap with fab five freddys change the beat and afrika bambata stompers the legendary label is preparing to release the debut album from nyc-paris emigre lord funk.

the last sound carrier was based around the notion of intrepid intergalactic explorers trying to get to earth, this time we’re taken 10.000 leagues below the surface to trawl the deep sea. all the way down there, we experience increased pressure, sub-zero temperatures, darkness and previously undiscovered new worlds. up first we have ‘lactarius indigo mission’, which has a distinct urgency and ‘in-your-face’ bitch slap percussion. the bassline writhes under a variety of squelchy, bleepy effects, which add a layer of depth and the whole thing feels quite electro. after that *from the space to the sea* continues the electro vibes with more punchy beats, a rugged b-line and heavyweight kicks. carriers use of quirky details give this track a unique character and contagious energy.on the other side we are treated to another strange carrier creation, the laidback kepler 22b. named after the first known planet to orbit a sun within what’s known as a habitable zone, kepler 22b could well support life. the track is serene and full of optimism, a fitting soundtrack for a distant earth-like planet. minimal workout * diver level 1000* closes the ep with its unusual arrangement and simple yet deadly programming. another addition to the impressive sound carrier catalogue and perhaps its most leftfield so far
